Prayer Summit!

Since the summer began I have been feeling that we needed to pull together a meeting to hang out and pray for our upcoming classes this fall. As for those of you who have completed college, I would like for you to join us to, so that we can cover you in prayer opportunity and protection. On the side bar I have put a survey together to determine the "coolest" date for everyone. Thought we would meet "somewhere in Alabama...ahahaah" grab a bite to eat and borrow the nearest Church of God of Prophecy to pray in! Can't wait to see you all.

Also, click on the link if you have any suggestions.....Luv Ya!

Giving Not Getting

Giving, Not Getting
Luke 6:38:38Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

In our Christian Walk it is vital that we learn and understand the principle of giving. God the Father gave to us unconditional and Christ gave to us his Life. The one Christian Character that separates us from the world is giving, expecting nothing.
Here are four examples of people, who gave, expecting nothing in return.

1. Mary the Mother of Jesus
Then Mary said, “behold the maid servant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

2. The Good Samaritan Luke 10:30-37
36"Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers' hands?" 37And he said, "The one who showed mercy toward him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do the same."

3. Jesus Christ- Luke 23:44-4744()It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until [c]the ninth hour, 45because the sun was obscured; and )the veil of the temple was torn in two. 46And Jesus, )crying out with a loud voice, said, "Father, )INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT." Having said this, He breathed His last. 47)Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he began )praising God, saying, "Certainly this man was innocent."

Lord Help me to see the joy in giving, help me to understand the gift in serving. As my life is renewed in you lead me to be a giver and not a taker.

Have You Been Rescued!

RESCUE ME

Passage Mark 4:35-41
35 And on that day, when evening was come, he saith unto them, Let us go over unto the other side. 36 And leaving the multitude, they take him with them, even as he was, in the boat. And other boats were with him. 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the boat, insomuch that the boat was now filling. 38 And he himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion: and they awake him, and say unto him, Teacher, do you care if we perish?
39 And he awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye fearful? have ye not yet faith?
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
Lets look at these points that the Disciples learned that day on the boat. It was truly a great miracle but, Jesus wanted them to understand that Believing in Him is more than just saying you know him. See, the disciples at this point had already seen Christ heal many people, tell some pretty awesome parables and teach some cool lessons. I think Christ was basically saying, you know me, why don’t you believe in me?
1. Stop doubting, Believe In Him-It’s not just being saved its going to Genesis and knowing God is God, It’s reading in Song of Solomon about Christ and his love for us.
2. Quit fearing, Trust in Him-Know that he is your peace, mix Christ into every part of your life and see what He will do…Just like calming the sea.
3. Stop looking else other places, have Faith in Him-Go to God for EVERYTHING…stop getting advice from friends who can’t even go a day without cussing, don’t take your troubles to people who like you one day and are mad at you the next., Go to the Father.

Connecting With Him!

Connection!
I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galations 2:20

In this fast paced world we find ourselves learning to connect to each other in many different ways. I remember when I was a teen I called my mom from the home telephone as soon as I walked in the door. Now we can call from our cell phones from anywhere! Connection with our creator is vital. I talk about it often I desire to see you move from being a pro-active to active, defensive to Offensive, pew-warmers to pew jumpers.

How to Connect. In our relationships we have several “social” bubbles in which we connect. Let’s think about our relationship with the Lord….where does He fit into our “social” bubbles and how do we communicate with him?

*First relationship with Christ, He just gets the “front” of us

*Go to him for companionship, needs and news

*Take time to talk to Him build a relationship

*Communion

DAILY GRIND: Just A Little Thankful

But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.
1 Samuel 12:24
I have been thinking alot this week about remembering the good things God has done. Not just for me but all of the Good things he does for his children. In a world where the negative out weighs the positive most of the time, I have been choosing to thank God for the 'simple' blessings that I think we often overlook like; clean water, a dry place to sleep, family, and the list goes on......I encourage you to make a list of your own, write down all of the GOOD things God has done for you!
Also, I know that many of you are taking some big tests this week...........I have been praying for you, the closing of a year away at school, I pray that you are blessed and remember everything you have studied and by "osmosis" the things you have not studied..heheehe!
Blessings,
Liz

DAILY GRIND: Burn The Boats!

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14

In February 1519, Hernando Cortez set sail on the final leg of a voyage that was to take him from Cuba, a stopover, to the shores of the Yucatan. He commanded 11 ships, with more than 500 soldiers, 100 sailors, and 16 horses, bound for Mexico to take the world's richest treasure. The precious jewels, gold, silver, and sculptures sheltered on this limestone peninsula had been hoarded by the same army for 600 years. After landing, all of his troops and countrymen were sure they would set camp and prepare to battle, but instead Cortez looked at them and said..."Burn the boats!". Questioning his wisdom many grumbled then Cortez explained, if we burn our boats we have to win this battle, there is simply no turning back. He proceeded to burn his own boats first, to show that he was in this to win. All of his group followed suit, and they ultimately went into battle fighting the best they ever had, winning and capturing what they came for! I wonder how many boats do I need to burn in my life, how many vessels are floating that are only escape routes from being what God has called me to be. I challange you to 'burn the boats' in your life!

Blessings,
Liz
